ACFT Calculator

Calculate your Army Combat Fitness Test score based on your event results.

What This ACFT Calculator Does

This calculator converts your raw performance in each of the six Army Combat Fitness Test (ACFT) events into a standardized score. It uses the official Army scoring scales to determine your total score and performance level, giving you an immediate assessment of where you stand against Army standards.

How the ACFT Scoring Works

The ACFT consists of six events, each scored on a 0–100 point scale. Your total score is the sum of all six event scores, with a maximum possible total of 600 points. The scoring scales are adjusted by gender and age group, meaning the same raw performance can yield different scores depending on the Soldier's demographic profile.

The Six Events

  • MDL – Maximum Deadlift (repetitions at a set weight)
  • SPT – Standing Power Throw (distance in meters)
  • HRP – Hand-Release Push-ups (repetitions in 2 minutes)
  • SDC – Sprint-Drag-Carry (time in seconds)
  • PLK – Plank (time in seconds)
  • 2MR – Two-Mile Run (time in minutes:seconds)

Each event has a minimum passing standard. Failing any single event results in an overall failure, regardless of the total score.

How to Use the Calculator

  1. Select your gender and age group from the dropdown menus.
  2. Enter your raw result for each of the six events. Use the units specified (repetitions, meters, seconds, or minutes:seconds).
  3. Click "Calculate" to generate your individual event scores and total ACFT score.

The calculator will also indicate whether you passed or failed based on the minimum standards for your demographic.

Understanding Your Results

Your total score falls into one of several performance categories:

  • 60–69 – Minimum passing score per event (total 360–414)
  • 70–79 – Moderate performance
  • 80–89 – High performance
  • 90–100 – Excellent performance

A total score of 500 or higher is generally considered competitive for most units. Scores below 360 indicate a failure in one or more events.

Note that the scoring scales are periodically updated by the Army. This calculator uses the most current published standards, but always verify with your unit's physical training office for official record purposes.

Common Mistakes When Using the Calculator

  • Incorrect age group selection – Scoring scales differ significantly between age brackets. Double-check your selection.
  • Wrong unit for time-based events – The Sprint-Drag-Carry requires seconds only, while the Two-Mile Run uses minutes:seconds format. Mixing these up will produce incorrect scores.
  • Entering raw weight instead of repetitions for MDL – The Maximum Deadlift score is based on the number of successful repetitions, not the weight lifted.
  • Assuming total score alone determines pass/fail – A high total score does not compensate for a failing score in any single event.

Limitations of This Calculator

This calculator provides an estimate based on the official scoring tables. It does not account for:

  • Alternate events or accommodations for medical profiles
  • Unit-specific scoring adjustments or local policies
  • Changes to scoring standards after the most recent Army update

Always confirm your official score with your unit's record-keeping system.

Practical Use Cases

  • Pre-test planning – Estimate your score before taking the official test to identify weak areas.
  • Progress tracking – Recalculate periodically to measure improvement across training cycles.
  • Goal setting – Determine what raw performance you need to achieve a target score for promotion or school selection.
  • Unit readiness assessment – Leaders can use the calculator to project unit-level fitness trends.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the minimum passing score for the ACFT?

The minimum passing score for each event is 60 points. You must score at least 60 on all six events to pass. A score of 59 or below on any single event results in an overall failure, regardless of your total score.

Can I use this calculator for record purposes?

This calculator is intended for training and planning purposes only. Official ACFT scores must be recorded and verified by your unit's physical training staff using the Army's official scoring system.

How are the scoring scales different for women and older Soldiers?

The Army adjusts scoring scales to account for physiological differences. For the same raw performance, a female Soldier or an older Soldier may receive a higher score than a younger male Soldier. The calculator automatically applies the correct scale based on your selected gender and age group.

What happens if I enter an unrealistic value?

The calculator will flag values that fall outside the expected range for each event. If you receive an error or unexpected result, check that your inputs are realistic and in the correct units.

Does the ACFT have alternate events?

Yes, Soldiers with certain medical profiles may be authorized alternate events. This calculator does not include alternate event scoring. Consult your unit's physical training staff for guidance on alternate events.
