Understanding Your Results

The output provides a breakdown of each material category. The board count includes a 5% waste factor to account for cutting errors and irregular deck shapes. The joist count is calculated based on the deck length and your chosen joist spacing, rounded up to the nearest whole number. Fastener estimates assume standard fixing patterns (two fasteners per joist intersection).

These figures are estimates. Actual material requirements may vary depending on deck shape, board layout pattern (e.g., diagonal), and site conditions. Always order a small additional margin for unexpected cuts or defects.
